What is the most neglect-tolerant houseplant?
The ZZ plant (Zamioculcas) and Snake plant (Sansevieria) are the standout choices — they store water in thick rhizomes and roots, tolerate deep shade, and survive weeks without attention. Both are on this list.
How long can these plants go without water?
The ZZ plant and Snake plant can go 4–6 weeks without water in normal indoor conditions. Pothos and Peace lily are less tolerant — about 2–3 weeks — but both recover from wilting if you water promptly. Botanicaly's app reminds you before they reach that point.
