For a potted plant in active growth, water when the surface of the potting medium begins to dry, then keep it evenly damp rather than saturated.
Water regularly while leaves actively grow after flowering. For a mature bulb, an optional 8–10 week indoor rest can follow later. Withhold water only during that chosen rest and resume when new growth begins.

Use a container with a drainage hole and a well-drained medium. Persistently wet conditions increase the risk of bulb or root rot.

Signs of too much or too little water
Persistently wet medium or a bulb showing mold or mildew calls for a growing-condition check. Natural leaf browning can also accompany the planned dormant stage.
