   When to water

   Let the top roughly 2 cm (0.8 in) of potting mix dry before watering again, while keeping the rest of the root ball from remaining soggy. Pot size, root fill, light, and season change drying speed.

   Reduce watering when growth and light fall in winter, but keep checking the potting mix rather than following a fixed date or schedule.

   How to water thoroughly

   Water the medium thoroughly when the surface has dried and let excess drain away instead of adding small routine sips.

   Use a container with drainage and do not leave the spider plant standing in water. Poor drainage or excess water can contribute to root rot. Slight drying is not a reason to create prolonged drought.

   Signs of too much or too little water

   Brown tips can follow dry soil or air, excess soluble salts, fluoride, or unsuitable light, while persistently wet media raises root-rot risk. Inspect the medium and growing conditions before changing water frequency.
