   Wait until the potting mix has dried out completely between waterings, then water thoroughly.

   Water less often in winter, when growth slows, and only once the mix has dried out completely. Spring and summer are the main season for watering and feeding.

   How to water thoroughly

   When the medium is dry, water thoroughly until excess exits the drainage holes, then empty the saucer or cachepot instead of leaving roots in drained water.

   Use a pot and mix that drain freely. ZZ plants do not tolerate wet feet, so choose a well-drained indoor mix.

   Signs of too much or too little water

   Soil that stays wet, yellowing or soft growth should trigger a drainage and moisture check before another watering. Dry, wrinkled growth should trigger the same check rather than an automatic schedule.
