  2. Keep propagation material in acidic specialist medium, bright light and wet container conditions. Use rainwater or distilled water, not hard tap water or ordinary fertilized potting mix.
  3. For division, separate a crown-bearing portion from a large clump and pot it into the specialist medium. For seed, sow it under the same carnivorous-plant conditions and keep the medium wet.

Signs of roots or failure

A division with its own crown is the readiness sign for separation. Seed and division may establish on different timelines, so trap closure is not proof that a new plant is established.

Dry media, unsuitable water or a division taken from a clump too small to separate are reasons to stop and review the setup. These signs do not explain every failed plant.
