   When to repot

   A new Venus flytrap does not need repotting for at least a year. Repot only when the container condition calls for it rather than on an automatic annual date.

   If repotting is needed, do it in spring, not on a fixed yearly schedule.

   Choosing the next pot

   Keep the Venus flytrap in a container suited to a wet bog medium with drainage and a water saucer or reservoir. Choose the new pot for the existing root system rather than a large ordinary houseplant pot.

   How to repot

   Use a specialist low-nutrient acidic carnivorous medium. Peat-free sphagnum moss also works. Do not add garden soil, standard fertilizer or an ordinary houseplant mix.

   After repotting

   After repotting, keep the medium wet from below with rainwater or distilled water, never let the plant dry out and do not fertilize. In winter, keep a lower water level in the saucer.
