   When to fertilize

   Fertilize Beaucarnea recurvata once or twice during the growing season, using a dilute fertilizer.

   Feed only while the plant is actively growing in brighter spring and summer conditions. You water less in winter, so skip routine winter feeding. Start and stop by what the plant does, not by a date.

   Use a dilute fertilizer solution during the spring and summer houseplant period. Follow the product label rather than turning dilute feeding into a high-strength routine.

   When not to fertilize

   Brown leaf tips can follow excessive fertilizer or accumulated salts as well as too much or too little water. Inspect the medium and feeding history before increasing fertilizer. Brown tips do not prove a nutrient shortage.
