   When to fertilize

   Liquid feed a potted olive from April to September, while it is actively growing.

   Feed during active growth rather than all year round. Treat April to September as a rough window and adjust for your light, temperature, fruiting and potting mix.

   Fertilizer type and dose

   Nitrogen, boron and potassium matter most for olive nutrition. A soil or leaf test is the best guide to what your tree needs. Choose the product and strength from its label.

   When not to fertilize

   If leaves discolor or growth weakens, check the plant before adding feed. The gap between too little and too much boron is small, and a leaf symptom alone does not prove a nutrient shortage in a pot.
