How to repot Aloe vera

   When to repot

   Repot Aloe vera when the root ball fills the container, roots circle or emerge from drainage holes, or the plant has clearly outgrown its pot. Do not use an arbitrary calendar date as the only trigger.

   Spring is preferred for routine succulent repotting as Aloe enters active growth. The approximate two-year houseplant interval is a guide, not a rule for every pot and root condition.

   Choosing the next pot

   Move the plant into a pot only slightly larger than the root ball and keep a drainage hole. Allow roughly 1 to 1.5 inches of extra space.

   How to repot

   Use a free-draining cactus or succulent mix with added grit or sand, set the leaves just above the soil line, and avoid burying the crown.

4. 04

   After repotting

   Let major cuts or root disturbance settle before watering. After a few days, return to a draining succulent routine rather than keeping the new mix continuously wet.
