How to fertilize a Cyclamen

   When to fertilize

   Feed about every two weeks during active growth or flowering, then reduce or stop as the plant goes dormant after flowering. Use this as a starting point, not a fixed rule.

   Maintain feeding during active winter or spring flowering, taper it as flowering declines, and give no routine feed during the cool, dry dormant rest. The onset and duration are not fixed to one calendar date.

   Fertilizer type and dose

   Use a low-nitrogen liquid fertilizer or a houseplant feed for flowering plants. No particular brand is needed, and it does not have to be a high-phosphorus product.

   Dilute the fertilizer and follow the product label for the amount.

   When not to fertilize

   Too much fertilizer can promote overly lush growth that is more vulnerable to disease. Yellowing during natural dormant decline should not automatically trigger extra feed, because yellow leaves have other possible causes.
