   Plant names and labels

   All of these are cultivars of the accepted species Ficus elastica, not separate rubber-plant species. A nursery label or photo without a name does not prove which cultivar you have.

   Useful named comparison points include dark-green ‘Robusta’, cream-and-green variegated ‘Tineke’, ‘Decora’ with glossy dark-green foliage and a pale midrib, and ‘Abidjan’ with dark-green foliage and bronze undersides. This is a sample, not a complete cultivar list.

   How the varieties differ

   The visible choice is foliage: ‘Tineke’ is variegated with dark green and cream, ‘Robusta’ is dark glossy green, ‘Decora’ has a pale midrib and reddish undersides, and ‘Abidjan’ has bronze undersides with dark red midribs.

   Care differences

   Care is the same for all the named forms: bright filtered or indirect light, moderate watering and a high-nitrogen feed from spring to late summer. Variegated ‘Tineke’ needs enough brightness to keep its pattern. No form needs its own watering, feeding or humidity routine.

   Limits of plant labels

   Not every retail name is covered here, and some labels have synonyms or unclear naming. Go by the cultivar name on the label. The name alone does not tell you how fast the plant will grow indoors or how it will respond to care.
