How to repot a golden pothos

   When to repot

   Inspect and consider repotting when Epipremnum roots are congested, spiral around the root ball or emerge from drainage holes. These signs can also explain why water no longer drains properly.

   Repot in spring, when container plants start into growth, unless a root or drainage problem needs attention sooner.

   Choosing the next pot

   If upsizing is justified, choose a pot no more than about one-third larger than the current container so fresh potting mix is less likely to remain wet around the roots.

   How to repot

   Use a free-draining indoor medium suited to Epipremnum, inspect the root ball and remove only soft or damaged roots if present, then set the plant at the same depth in a pot that fits the roots.

   After repotting

   After repotting, water so the new medium settles and surplus drains, empty standing water and put the plant back in its usual spot. Check dryness before the next watering.
