Schlumbergera is a genus of tropical epiphytic cacti. RHS identifies Schlumbergera truncata and Schlumbergera × buckleyi among plants sold as Christmas cactus, while Kew supplies the genus boundary. The retail name does not prove one species.
Group
The practical group is holiday cacti sold as indoor plants: flat segmented stems, trailing or arching habit and winter-season flowers, with species and hybrids differing in the timing and shape of those features. This is a consumer grouping, not a formal identity test.
