   Choose a well-drained houseplant medium. An equal-part cactus mix is one option, not a mandatory recipe for every Pilea peperomioides pot.

   Use a container with drainage holes and a mix that sheds excess water. Keep the root zone from staying saturated or standing in water. Drainage depends on both the pot and the medium.

   Match the mix to the pot and setting

   For an indoor Pilea peperomioides container, choose a porous houseplant or cactus-style medium, keep the drain hole open and let the upper mix dry before watering again.

   Soil pH

   Choose the mix for drainage rather than pH. Do not adjust the pH based on a bag description.

   When soil alone is not the problem

   Focus on drainage. Soil alone cannot compensate for a blocked pot, standing water or a watering pattern that keeps the root zone saturated.
