Light needs for a Chinese money plant

   Best position and light

   Give Pilea peperomioides bright, indirect or filtered light. It can tolerate partial shade, but prolonged direct summer sun can scorch the leaves.

   Place the pot near a north-, east-, or west-facing window, or set it back from a bright south-facing window so the foliage stays out of direct sunshine.

   Seasonal light changes

   As the sun changes, filter or move the pot farther from stronger summer light. During darker months, keep the brightest indirect position available.

   Signs the light may be wrong

   Scorched patches after direct exposure call for an excess-light check. Straggly, weak, or leaning growth in a dim position calls for more usable indirect light and rotation of the pot.

   Limits of this light guide

   For Pilea peperomioides, use bright, filtered indoor placement. Light alone does not set how fast it grows or whether it flowers, and other Pilea species or terrarium plants may need different light.
