How to propagate by stem cuttings
Flaming Katy can be propagated from a stem tip or a whole leaf. Both contain stored water, so let the cut surface dry before placing it in gritty mix.

In spring or summer, choose either a healthy stem tip 5–10 cm (2–4 in) long or a plump, undamaged whole leaf.

Cut the stem tip with a clean tool and remove its lowest leaves, or twist off the whole leaf gently so its base stays intact.

Leave the cutting in a dry, shaded spot for 1–3 days until the cut end has dried and sealed.

Set the bare stem base 2–3 cm (0.8–1.2 in) deep in gritty cactus or succulent mix. Lay a whole leaf flat with its base touching the mix.

Leave it uncovered and do not root it in water. Trapped moisture rots succulent stems.

Keep the pot in bright, indirect light. Water a stem tip lightly about a week after potting, once the mix has dried out. Under a whole leaf, keep the surface of the mix barely damp, never wet, until roots and a small plant form.

Usually roots in 2–3 weeks. When a gentle tug meets resistance, the cutting has rooted: care for it as a mature plant.
