When should I water my plant?
Choose your plant and your pot. You get a watering rhythm, the date to check the soil next, and the reason behind the number.
Your plant and your pot
Set from today’s date. Change it if your winter falls in another part of the year.
How the number is worked out
The number comes from the same watering math the Botanicaly app uses. It starts from the plant’s own watering rhythm for the season and then adjusts for pot size and pot material.
The app also uses a light reading, local weather and what you tell it about your plant, so its rhythm can differ from this estimate. The soil check decides: water only when the soil is dry at the depth shown.
Watering questions
How often should I water houseplants?
It depends on the plant, the pot size, the pot material and the season. Pick your plant above for a starting rhythm, then check the soil before each watering.
Why does pot material change how often I water?
Terracotta and fabric let water evaporate through their walls, so the soil dries faster. Plastic and glazed pots keep the moisture in.
Should I water on a fixed day?
Use the date as a reminder to check, not as an order to water. If the soil is still wet at the depth shown, wait and check again a little later.
